How Women Rise - Habit One and Two: Reluctance to Claim Your Achievements and Expecting Others To Spontaneously Notice and Reward Your Contributions

Two Young Birds are delighted to bring to you a series of quarterly workshops based on the research of world-leading coaches and best-selling authors, Sally Helgesen and Marshall Goldsmith. Across the series, we will delve into each chapter of their best-selling book “How Women Rise - Break the Twelve Habits Holding You Back”,  workshop by workshop.

Habit One and Two: Reluctance to Claim Your Achievements and Expecting Others To Spontaneously Notice and Reward Your Contributions

WOMEN! Do you feel uncomfortable claiming your awesome achievements and contributions? Do you feel that to be considered a wonderful person, you should spread the credit around? As women, it’s so common for us to take a back seat and let others shine. Many of us feel that speaking up about our great work is vulgar or attention seeking, and believe that the work should speak for itself.

...but often it doesn’t. And we lose out. And “Mike” gets all the glory and the promotion because he’s shouting louder.

Well, you deserve to be recognised for your amazing contribution and meaningful work and should be proud to tell your colleagues and clients that you’re a total badass! And there are ways in which we can shine the light on ourselves and our achievements that don’t make us feel like we’re completely obnoxious and showing off.

Join us on 10am on Friday 27th September 2019 as we attempt to break down all the barriers and boundaries we have created that have held us back, and explore how we can make that a thing of the past as we discuss the art of self-promotion.

We will help you question any unhelpful beliefs you hold that get in the way of you being your best. We want you to really recognise the value you bring and walk away from the session feeling empowered with a renewed confidence to put yourself first - and feel great about it!

Sounds good? Then get involved! :)

Getting to know me

What are you doing to develop yourself? Are you achieving what you are capable of? Do you sometimes doubt yourself? Are you clear about what's getting in the way of you fulfilling your potential?

Most of us have busy lives and most of us want to do a great job, whether that be at work or in our personal lives. Yet unless you understand yourself, who you are and what makes you flourish, you're likely to be holding yourself back.

At our inaugural event, we will look at the subject of ‘you’. Most of the time we are on autopilot and on that mode, we can't guarantee to be at our best. It also compromises our ability to achieve our goals and sometimes out mental health. When you become more consciously aware of your programming, what makes you tic and how your daily choices affect your performance, you can achieve more.

During this workshop we'll look at:

  • Dealing with your inner critic

  • The impact of beliefs on your performance

  • Dealing with the elephant that lives in your head

You will come out with a better understanding of how your mind works, how it limits you and how to pay better attention to what's working and what isn't. And you'll get to do it with other awesome women who are on the same journey as you.
